| | September 18, 2008 Diamonds North Begins Processing Tuktu and Qavvik Bulk Samples to Test for Larger Diamonds
|
| | News Release: 08-31
VANCOUVER, September 18th, 2008 - Diamonds North Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: DDN) announces that processing of bulk samples from the Tuktu-1, 2, 3 and Qavvik-4, 5 & 6 kimberlites, located on the Company's 100% owned Amaruk property in the Pelly Bay Diamond District has begun.
An estimated 20 tonnes of kimberlite was collected from the Tuktu-1, 2 & 3 kimberlite and an additional estimated 15 tonnes of kimberlite was collected from Qavvik-4, 5 and 6 kimberlites this summer.
The bulk samples were collected using a diamond drill rig equipped for HQ size core recovery. This larger sample is designed to further evaluate the larger diamond potential of this highly diamondiferous kimberlite (see News Release NR08-17, May 27th, 2008, where 2850 diamonds were recovered from 412.15 kilograms from Tuktu-1B).
The bulk sample material will be sorted, weighed and crushed prior to processing. A diamond concentrate will be produced using a 1 tonne per hour Bateman Dense Media Separation plant with a 0.5mm screen size cut-off at SGS Lakefield Laboratory.
The Company raised over $17 million in July (See News Release NR08-28, July 10th 2008) and is in a strong financial position.
Diamonds North has discovered 25 kimberlites to date on the Amaruk property. Of the 22 analyzed kimberlites, more than 90% of the known kimberlites are diamondiferous and 50% exhibit diamond counts that require follow-up exploration. Several hundred geophysical targets remain to be tested on the property.
Bruce Kienlen (P.Geol) and Graham Gill (P. Geo) are Diamonds North's qualified persons reviewing these projects. They are responsible for the design and conduct of the exploration programs and the verification and quality assurance of analytical results.
Diamonds North Resources is focused on discovering Canada's next diamond mine. The Company is rapidly evolving and committed to building long-term value through ongoing diamond discoveries.
