Diamonds North To Drill The Amaruk Project

VANCOUVER, July 13, 2006 - Diamonds North Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: DDN) announces the start of a $2,000,000 drilling and survey program on the Amaruk project. The Amaruk project is 100% owned by Diamonds North and covers approximately 4.5 million acres in the Pelly Bay Diamond District in Nunavut. Drilling is expected to begin by the first week of August.

The Company has identified approximately 380 geophysical anomalies on the central block to date from the 2004 and 2005 airborne surveys. The anomalies form a full range of priority targets which include magnetic high and low signatures and several targets in the 5 to 10 hectare size range (see https://diamondsnorthresources.com/s/Amaruk.asp to view a sample of the anomalies).

The 2006 exploration program is currently underway. Some of the program highlights include:

? Drill testing 15 to 20 targets in the central block using a reverse circulation drill.
? Targeted prospecting in areas with strong indicator mineral support and cut-off.
? Additional airborne surveying in new areas with abundant indicator minerals.
? Detailed till sampling.

Past prospecting on the Amaruk project has proven an effective method of discovery as more than 15 kimberlite float occurrences and 1 kimberlite in outcrop have been identified. The Company believes that using a more targeted approach in 2006 will augment the drilling program with more kimberlite discoveries.

Kimberlite discoveries on the Amaruk project in 2005 yielded very encouraging diamond counts and excellent diamond characteristics (see News Releases NR06-13, May 9th, 2006). More recent kimberlite discoveries in the Pelly Bay region (Darby Project) confirm the existence of larger kimberlite bodies and the presence of multiple kimberlite fields in the region.

The Pelly Bay region of Nunavut has emerged as Canada's newest diamond district. Some of the highlights of the Amaruk project include:

? Potential for numerous kimberlite discoveries -- the central kimberlite field spans 60 kilometres as defined by kimberlite indicator minerals, kimberlite float and geophysical targets.
? The company holds 100% interest in the large property with the indicated presence of at least four separate kimberlite fields.
? Existence of larger kimberlite bodies - Umingmak kimberlite discovered in 2005 is estimated at 3 hectare in size and several targets measure in the 5-10 hectare range.
? All kimberlite from the property processed to date is diamondiferous (see News Release NR06-04, February 7, 2006).
? High diamond counts demonstrated by WMC kimberlite float occurrence.
? Exceptional diamond characteristics reported for the WMC and Umingmak kimberlites.
? The project is near tide water and the airport of Kugaaruk.

The 2006 exploration program is the first drilling program on the property. All previous discoveries have been through prospecting based on previous surveys.

Bruce Kienlen (P.Geol) and Graham Gill (P. Geo) are Diamonds North's qualified persons reviewing the data for the project.

Diamonds North has developed one of Canada's most prospective diamond portfolios with over 15 million acres of land which include the Amaruk, Hepburn and Victoria Island projects that are all 100% owned by the Company.

Diamonds North is a dynamic successful exploration team focused on strategically advancing diamond opportunities and is determined to discover Canada's next diamond mine.
